a-1121
_________________________________________________ a-1121
It has been 10 weeks today since I filed. My date was changed 3 times, then it went to a 1221 then to 1121. At one point they had released it but pulled it back. I got a cpo5 letter almost a month ago, called after the 3 week deadline, was told by the IRS that they don't have a timeline that they have to follow and that maybe I should contact Tax advocates in mid May if I haven't heard anything. Basically they want me to stop calling. I am fed up with the lack of checks and balances that the IRS has. Has anyone recieved theirs that had this code? There are a lot of people here with the same problem. From the government's point of view, the delays *are* a check and balance. If the IRS hands out a large refund and later finds it is in error, they have trouble getting the money back. For whatever reason, the IRS thinks there is something wrong with your tax return. Maybe they think you entered the data from your W-2 wrong and haven't been able to contact your employer to confirm the correct numbers. (The IRS doesn't get their copy of the W-2 until late May or June.) Or maybe you filed your original return and then immediately filed a 1040X that looked funny or, like a few people, filed two returns and now the IRS has to figure out which one is correct. Due to things like the stimulus package, the IRS is understaffed this year and everything is taking longer to process. The taxpayer advocate will have trouble speeding this up.
