I recently got some new cacti and was wondering how often should I water them and it seems that when I put them in the sun they don't do so well. It gets up to 33C or 91.4F here. These are the pictures of my cacti which I recently bought from Wal-Mart.
This is what seems to happen to some of my cacti.
And I re potted them and watered them on the first day. Well, you should have left them alone when you first bought them. You changed their environment so they need time to adjust. And remember, they were grown in hothouses, they don't even know what real sun is. So, stop watering them for a few weeks. You need to give their roots time to regenerate from the transplant. Keep them in the shade mostly, with a little early morning sun for about 30 min. After a few weeks, if their pots get very light feeling, you can start watering them each time the pot gets light. Don't overwater, very little sun and see how they do. Next year, they will be better able to handle sun. But in the summer, I keep mine outside but under a big shade tree and they get a little sun each day and grow very well. I keep them inside in a sunny window in the winter.
