Radio Bot Robot
Distance measurement with radio signals?

I am looking for circuitry designs / DIY kits of the following:

I am building a simple robot which has to be able to send its position to a central computer. The bot is just a vehicle, but it should have a small radio "emitter", so several "recievers" mounted to the walls can detect the distance between the bot and the walls. I am going to use triangulation later for measuring the exact position, but for now I only want 2 small boxes which can give me the distance between them.

Any link to a guide / blueprint is highly appreciated!
(sorry for the bad english)

Thanks, Feroxium.

You would need something in the microwave range for these short distances. Not that easy. How about ultrasound? Much easier... you will need ultrasound transmitters, receivers and a DSP pro box. Each box sends out an encoded time signal. The receiver can detect this signal and from the relative delay it can calculate a distance. Still not easy but doable without special RF equipment.

If you are dead set on microwaves:

You can, of course, buy these things...

Looks kind of expensive. One will probably cost more than your whole robot.
