I'm about to attempt to set the Gain level for my Alpine Amp. The guide that I'm using states that the reading should be done with the sub unhooked. Is this because with the sub-woofer working all the readings would be off or is it to protect the sub? If so should I unhook my speakers as well. The guide states to use a 60Hz Tone and test with all the head unit eq's flat and with the radio 3/4 full, and turn up the gain until i reach my calculated volts. My head unit has a small internal amp that my speakers run off of. My sub is the only speaker running off my amp. i have never been able to get that method to work correctly.
