Radio Recieving Set
Is it possible to listen to frequencies not in the comercial range on a normal (modified) radio?

Hey,
so i was wondering. i have this portable cd player that i dont use anymore, and ive pulled it apart and removed the dead componants (like the inbuilt cd player, casset recorder etc.) and now it works perfectly as your average AM/FM radio. I have.. intermediate.. experience and knowledge of radios and know most of their inner workings, however i was just wondering if it was possible to modify this.. well radio.. to posibly listen to lower frequencies such as a police scanner would be able to do, or even to have the recieving capabilities of an amateur radio station. I can set up an antena, or whatever is needed without trouble i was just wondering if it was possible and if it is if someone could please let me know what i would have to do to get this working?
Thanks :P

Well, you would have to take out certain things of the tuning section and retune the circuit but I'd say that it would be better just to get a scanning receiver.
