I'm trying to remove a Sansui Rx-222 Cassette Deck (this model would be from the early to mid 90s) from a '93 Ford Tempo, thus far to no avail. I've taken out the ashtray and bottom plate in order to get to the deck, but something seems to be holding it in.
Please note, this is not the original Ford stereo. Unfortunately, there's no face plate to remove in order to get the thing out of the dashboard.
I just want to be rid of the cursed thing! Any information on removal of Sansui model Rx 222 will be generously rewarded with 10 points. Help me gearheads, you're my only hope!
Look for the holes or slots on the narrow edge of the deck. They should be located behind the small trim piece around the deck, or sometimes just in the face of the deck. Insert something in those holes/slots, and the deck should come out, as they are most likely spring loaded. There are tools available to remove these type stereos at most of the discount auto parts places.
