I have just a couple of old audio cassettes (containing mainly speech), the contents of which I would like to preserve for sentimental reasons. Therefore, I would like to import the sound from these cassettes into my PC, with a view to converting the sound to MP3 or WAV format and then burning to CD.
It has been suggested to me by a gentleman in PC World that a simple solution might be to connect my cassette walkman, via a 3.5mm stereo jack lead, to the microphone input of my PC. I have tried this but without success. I have used the freeware utility Audacity, SoundMAX and even Windows Sound Recorder in attempt to capture some sound, but all to no avail. However, I am a complete novice with all these pieces of software – indeed I am a complete novice with importing sound full stop, so I could be missing something or just doing things plain wrong! Can someone please help?!
It will do it all
